With dockside access to the Mississippi River, it’s no surprise that a triangle of land once part of the City of Carrollton might claim a history of rum running and whiskey wrangling. But around these parts, tomorrow is a different day.

In the 1970s, this unique neighborhood reemerged as the Black Pearl with an eye on its future. Today, it’s a place far removed from its rough-and-rowdy past, perched proudly on high ground and a true microcosm of what we love about New Orleans.
