Back-to-Back Double Gold Years: Whiskey Tree Bourbon Is Putting New Orleans on the International Whiskey Map

The whiskey world is taking notice — and this time, the spotlight is on New Orleans.

Whiskey Tree Bourbon, born from the legend of the Honey Island Swamp and blended in New Orleans, has earned international recognition across major spirits competitions, including back-to-back years of Double Gold honors at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

In 2025, Whiskey Tree High Rye Bourbon made a statement, earning Double Gold, a 99-point score, and recognition as a Best-of-Class finalist at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. That win helped put Whiskey Tree in rare company and brought national attention to a bourbon with unmistakable New Orleans character. Seven Three Distilling’s own announcement confirms the 2025 Double Gold, 99-point score, and Best-of-Class finalist recognition.

Then, Whiskey Tree did it again.

At the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Whiskey Tree Cognac Finish Bourbon and Whiskey Tree Wheated Bourbon both earned Double Gold, while Whiskey Tree Bourbon and Whiskey Tree Rye Bourbon earned Silver. That marks two consecutive years of Double Gold recognition for the Whiskey Tree family — a powerful signal that this New Orleans whiskey story is not just having a moment. It is building momentum.

And the international medals did not stop there.

At the 2026 International Wine & Spirit Competition, Whiskey Tree Wheated Bourbon Whiskey scored 97 points and earned Spirit Gold 2026. Whiskey Tree High Rye Bourbon Whiskey also earned Spirit Silver 2026 with a 91-point score, and Whiskey Tree Bourbon Whiskey earned Spirit Silver 2026 with a 90-point score.

For a New Orleans-rooted whiskey brand, these wins mean more than medals. They are proof that New Orleans belongs in the conversation with the most respected names in whiskey.

A New Orleans Story Bigger Than the Bottle

Whiskey Tree has always carried a story bigger than the bottle. Its roots trace back to the legend of the Honey Island Swamp, where Prohibition-era lore tells of a hidden bald cypress known as the Whiskey Tree — a secret meeting place where moonshiners gathered, traded, and kept the spirit of the region alive. Today, that legend lives on in a family of bold, character-driven bourbons crafted with the same sense of mystery, resilience, and place. Seven Three describes Whiskey Tree as “born on the bayou” and “blended in New Orleans,” with the High Rye Bourbon created as a tribute to the Honey Island Swamp’s past and New Orleans’ dedication to exceptional spirits.

Different Bottles. Different Profiles. One Whiskey Tree Family.

The High Rye Bourbon brings bold spice, structure, and warmth. The Wheated Bourbon leans softer and rounder, with fruit, florals, oak, brown butter, baking spice, and a long, warm finish. The Cognac Finish Bourbon adds another layer of depth, bringing a polished finishing-cask character to the Whiskey Tree lineup. Together, they show the range of what New Orleans whiskey can be: approachable, layered, memorable, and built to stand on an international stage.

Recognition Beyond the Judges’ Table

Whiskey Tree High Rye Bourbon also earned media attention beyond the judges’ table, appearing in Forbes’ 2025 Father’s Day Gift Guide: The Best Bourbons for Dad. Forbes positioned the guide around bourbons connected to the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition’s Best-in-Class finalists, a list of bottles competing for some of the competition’s top bourbon honors.

That combination matters: international medals, back-to-back Double Gold years, a 97-point IWSC Gold, Silver medals across the portfolio, and Forbes recognition.

Different bottles. Different profiles. Same message.

Whiskey Tree is no longer just a local secret.

It is a New Orleans whiskey family earning international attention — from the swamp to the judges’ table, from local shelves to national press, from a hidden legend to a growing name in American whiskey.
